Symptoms
This is a little boy being tested for dehydration.
Upon consuming the bacteria, they travel to your stomach and intestines. Those who don't get killed in the stomach acid start producing a toxin that causes any water that is consumed to be ejected from the body through severe vomiting and a watery diarrhea. Since none of the electrolytes and minerals stay in the body, one can become very dehydrated. Symptoms of cholera, which are the same as dehydration, include thirst, dry mouth and skin, little urine output, absence of tears, muscle cramps, weakness, and a rapid heart rate. Symptoms usually appear within one to three days.
